HeyLookAtThis! August 10, 2019

The summer is flying by!! I wish there was more that I could do to slow down time. I’m trying to refocus on what my goals are for the year. Saving money? Career goals? It’s hard to figure out. This week on the blog I wrote about my July spending and my packing list for a weekend getaway.

Here’s what caught my eye this week!

1. The Sea King by C.L. Wilson is my favorite combination of fantasy and romance!! I need more to this series immediately!! Weather mages and hot magical dudes is my weakness, apparently.

2. GLOW is back!!

3. The ICE raid in Mississippi is so gross and in-humane. Now children are traumatized without their parents and the employer of all of these people will not be punished for his employment practices! How fucked up is that!

4. RIP Toni Morrison – the greatest American author

“We die. That may be the meaning of life. But we do language. That may be the measure of our lives.” —Toni Morrison, February 18, 1931 – August 5, 2019 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We are profoundly sad to report that Toni Morrison has died at the age of eighty-eight. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ From Sonny Mehta, Chairman of Knopf: “Toni Morrison’s working life was spent in the service of literature: writing books, reading books, editing books, teaching books. I can think of few writers in American letters who wrote with more humanity or with more love for language than Toni. Her narratives and mesmerizing prose have made an indelible mark on our culture. Her novels command and demand our attention. They are canonical works, and more importantly, they are books that remain beloved by readers.”

5. Libraries are the best!! Literally, I use the Brooklyn Public Library all the time!

Have a good week! ♥
