Time certainly is flying! This Sunday, February 10 is the anniversary of my first post! I can’t believe it’s been five years since I’ve started this blog. There have definitely been some up and down moments (ahem, 2017), but within the past few months, I’ve put the wheels in motion to make this the type of space that I want and I’m very proud of that. Specifically, I created a content calendar that more accurately aligns with what I’m interested in writing about.
My posting schedule:
Mondays: Money! 💸
Tuesdays: Book Reviews/Bookish things 📚
These are usually re-posts from 80 Books Blog, my book review blog I co-run with my friend Tqwana. Some favorite posts: How my reading habits have changed, review of The City of Brass, and my review of Women’s War.
Wednesdays: Travel/City Guides/NYC Experiences 🗽
NYC always has interesting things going on and I’m happy to write about events or things to do in the city. A well of content as long as I get out of the house! Some of my recent outings: visiting Seattle, Andy Warhol Exhibit, Mother of the Maid play, and Bay Ridge good eats.
Thursdays: Home/Recipes/Beauty/Skincare 🏠
This is a category I feel I’m still developing. I like lifestyle and home type things, but writing about them proves to be a bit of a challenge for me. Hopefully I’ll get more comfortable as this year moves forward. Some examples in this category include: My favorite face masks, shared meals for vegetarians and carnivores, and pros and cons of a staycation.
Fridays: Opinions (skews political) 👀
This is a catchall category for whatever is on my mind that week. During the mid-term election last year it was a lot of political commentary, but I also have been writing about other things like environmental impact, my five rules for life, and that I’m running for president (haha).
Saturdays: HeyLookAtThis! link round-up 💻
I love this category. My Saturday posts are a round up of the blog posts of the week as well as some of the things on the internet I’ve seen and loved. Here’s last week’s post (and you can click through to see previous weeks in the post).

Do I post on every one of those days? No way! However, I do try and post at least 3-4 times a week. It’s super challenging, and I really enjoy being able to think creatively about posts and things that interest me.
The second half of my plan with the editorial calendar is monetizing my blog. I have ads from the WordAds feature on WordPress that show up everywhere, but I also have affiliate links embedded around the blog, plus I have my payment button if anyone feels like they want to tip me after they read the post (it happened once!!).
Looking back at my last year, I have been able to accomplish what I set out to do, I’ll just be expanding on them going forward. Excited to see where the year takes the blog and hopefully I’ll start earning a second income from this side hustle!
Thanks for reading and your support!
