Shout out to my friends who live in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn for showing me the joys of hanging out in Bay Ridge–the food! These are my favorite places to go for a good bite!
My favorite coffee shop… Cocoa Grinder
6823 3rd Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11220, on the corner of 3rd Avenue and Bay Ridge Ave
This place is so cute. Friendly baristas, good coffee, and well-rounded menu. I ordered a avocado tartine my first time there, which was very satisfying. The atmosphere is also really cool and chill. I didn’t realize, but this is a franchise in Brooklyn. All the locations have those grid windows! The shop looks amazing.
My favorite bakery… Little Cupcake Bake Shop
9102 3rd Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11209, on 3rd ave and the corner of 91st street
I first heard of this cupcake shop when I went on a cupcake crawl a few years ago, but it was in Manhattan. I was pleasantly surprised (like legit, why are they in Bay Ridge), but whenever I have a craving for cupcakes, they are there for me! Can’t go wrong here.
My favorite Mexican restaurant… Blue Agave
7215 3rd Ave, New York, New York 11209, on 3rd Avenue, between 72n and 73rd Streets.
Cheap brunch! $14 and includes a drink! My go-to is Huevos Rancheros. If you’re with friends, I would suggest going in for the extra drink options. It’s a small place, but they are generous with the alcohol.
My favorite Chinese restaurant… Shangri-la
7400 3rd Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11209 on the corner of 3rd Ave and 74th street.
Vegan! Chinese food! OMGGGGGGG
But seriously, I’m so happy that I found this place! Even my non-vegetarian boyfriend has approved of the menu. It’s more than just Chinese food, they also make Japanese and Thai dishes. The main proteins vary from tofu, bean curd, eggplant, tempeh, and seitan, and they are prepared in such a way that is soooo delicious. For instance, Orange Seitan and General Tso’s Soy Protein, have the flavors that I loved about Chinese food, but I hadn’t really eaten these foods in so long because I couldn’t have the satisfaction of eating a vegetarian option (leave me with the cauliflower option). And TBH, the fact that I can order anything makes me unbelievably happy.
My favorite donut place… Mike’s Donuts
6822 5th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11220, on 5th avenue between 68th Street and Bay Ridge Ave.
The donuts are satisfying and delicious. It’s across the street from Alpine Cinemas and you can definitely grab a $1 donut before going in…that is all. 🙂
