Welcome!
You have stumbled onto my blog and are probably wondering what it’s about. Here’s a (mostly-true) synopsis:
Who: hahanella
My self-given nickname, nella, was created a few years ago (read: as a teenager) when I was bored at work one day. My co-worker and I were saying and writing our names backwards. As you can imagine, most of the time it was unpronounceable jibberish, but sometimes it actually sounded like it could have been a word. For instance, my co-workers middle name was esoR [eee-sore], which provided many a laugh, and many disgruntled and ignored customers. My first and middle names don’t exactly roll off the tongue, rehtaeH eeneR, but at the time I thought nellA was the most hilarious non-word I’d ever heard. Thus, my alter-ego and a fond memory was born.
What: This is a project for a magazine writing and editing class, but I hope I will be able to keep it up for longer than 4 months. My friend gave me the idea for the blog name at dinner after watching the 50th anniversary episode of Doctor Who.
Carbtastic is a way for me to express my love of carbohydrates in my diet. Most of what I eat revolves around bread, potatoes, and/or cheese, so I felt I could write about interesting foods I eat and any other topics that have to do with F O_O D. This past week I made cornbread, and added jalapenos! Delicious! (Side note, I have not yet purchased an actual muffin pan, so I buy the tins because I’m cheap, a recurring theme in this blog.)

Nerdtastic is a way for me to express my love of all things nerdy. Like I mentioned before, I am a big fan of Doctor Who, but I am also a huge book nerd–in ways you will grow to understand. In the mean time, here’s a picture of my bookshelf. Can you see my sonic screwdriver?

Fantastic is just a way for me to express how awesome my life is and how appreciative I am to be living it. I don’t have sunshine shining out of my ears everyday (Hello! I ride the subway!), but I do some pretty cool things with some pretty cool people, and I am happy about it. This past Sunday I went to the Lunar New Year Parade (hashtag dragons).

[hisses]
Where: I am based in Brooklyn, but I will occasionally explore the other boroughs (ehh, maybe not Staten Island).
When: RIGHT NOW
Why: I am in pursuit of making up as many words as possible in the name of science! And I miss writing.
Love this! So excited to see what happens in the coming months!
